Water Damage can sometimes remain unseen.
It looks dry. . . but is it really? That’s a question that YBI Restoration Technicians know the answer to. The water damage that can be “seen” is dumb. The water that cannot be “seen” is considered smart. YBI Restoration’s technicians always search out the water that is hidden.
Below is a picture of a normal bathroom. You cannot see any evidence of water damage around the base of the toilet.
And yet, in the ceiling below the bathroom, the evidence began to show up that there was a leak . . .somewhere. Once the toilet was pulled it became obvious where the water was coming from. The wax seal was damaged allowing water to flow past it into the floor and ceiling every time the toilet was flushed. The question is always, OK so where else did the water flow. YBI Restoration’s technicians discovered water between all layers of each level of flooring. Water had moved between the tiles and cement board, between the cement board and the 5/8″ plywood, between the 5/8″ plywood and the 1″X8″ subfloor planking, AND THEN through the ceiling below.
YBI Restoration’s technicians were able to save this client over $1000 on this job by properly drying out the affected area only. Once everything was dry, each layer was replaced and the original tiles were able to be used once again. Once the job was properly complete, the clients couldn’t tell that they ever had a problem.
